The pipefishes and seahorses group is comprised of two closely-related families, the Solenostomidae (ghost pipefishes) and the Syngathidae (pipefishes, pipehorses, and seahorses). While some species of pipefishes are quite common, sightings of the only seahorse species that has been reported in Guam’s waters, Hippocampus histrix, are extremely rare.
